Avi Buffalo is the project of a young gifted musician called Avi Zahner. After several concerts, the group, formed by several school friends, rapidly caused a sensation on the Los Angeles indie scene. The hype did not cease to escalate: first of all on the internet, then in British and American specialised press.
With a sublime album, it’s a voice entrenched in experience that has overlapped the crazy creations of Neil Young, sat comfortably next to the depths of Love and shared the heights and ecstasies with The Byrds. France was very quick to succumb to the triumphant pop and subtlety of Avi Buffalo, influenced by The Shins, Wilco, The Byrds and Arcade Fire, and with their voice chanting about an eternal America, very familiar with the ever-fascinating mixture of darkness and euphoria, infinite hope and open wounds. The melodies are glorious, harmonies ethereal and the instrumentation elegant, dominated by glittering guitars and melancholy tones. One of the big revelations of 2010.
