COCOON ( - FR)
Since their first appearance at the Ardentes Club in 2008, we have fallen under the charm of Cocoon’s soft melodies. What a great pleasure to finally welcome them to the festival. Self-taught, this folk duo made up of Mark Daimail and Morgane Imbeaud saw the light of day in misty Auvergne. These bedfellows are linked by very similar musical influences: Elliott Smith, Lou Reed, Sufjan Stevens, CocoRosie, Sparklehorse, Kurt Cobain, Velvet Underground and The Beatles, but also by the same way of viewing music and the stage. Their first album with the peculiar title “My Friends All Died in a Plane Crash”, released in 2007, immediately makes you want to run away to a place where you feel yourself, like in a cocoon. The second, “Where the oceans end”, whose title opens the gates to big ambitions, confirms the ease with which Cocoon interweave their wandering, shadowy songs, full of the desire to escape and liberation.
