Joan Wasser, group founder and trained violinist, has known throughout her career prestigious collaborators such as Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Antony & the Johnsons and even Jeff Buckley. It’s as a solo artist though that she’s made her mark since 2006 with her project Joan as Police Woman. Her third album, released in January 2011, which she will perform at Les Ardentes, was marked by the painful death of her mother. Resolutely introspective and emotionally rich, it nevertheless contains a collection of bright pop songs such as the unstoppable single “Magic”. Remarkable onstage for the energy she emits, Joan as Police Woman will surely be one of the great moments of this 2011 edition.
