KELIS ( - USA)
Originating from Harlem, Kelis has all the traits of a strong woman. She has fire and passion, sensuality and her own kind of enthusiasm. Kelis, her real name Kelis Rogers Caloteira, daughter of a jazzman, discovered music through her mother who encouraged her to devote herself to it. Destined for a musical career, at 16, Kelis left the family home. Spotted by Goldfinghaz, he put her in contact with members of the Wu Tang Clan. At 18, she met The Neptunes producers, aka Pharell Williams and Chad Hugo, who landed her a contract at Virgin Records. With her disturbing voice that skilfully puts together the sensitivity of R&B and the raw energy of hip hop over a funky background, her first single “Caught Out There” was a triumphant success. She then kept everyone’s attention with her first album “Kaleidoscope” and the year after, her second opus “Wanderland”. Kelis then continued this success, notably with “Kelis Was There”, nominated for a Grammy Award in 2007. She will present her brand new opus at the Ardentes, a record with a radical change of direction towards electro as can be witnessed on the tracks “Acapella”, composed and produced by David Guetta, and her collaborations with Crookers and Benny Bennasi. The temperature will rise in the HF6.
